AI For Business

May 29 (Reuters) – Meta Platforms plans to start testing an AI pendant within the next year as it plots a roadmap for wearable devices to reverse losses in its hardware division, Information reported on Friday, citing a note.

• The report comes after Meta’s hardware arm Reality Labs reported a loss of $4.03 billion on revenue of just $402 million in the first quarter.

• Meta aims to sell 10 million wearable devices in the second half of 2026, and will drive sales by launching new products and selling in more countries, The Information said.

• Currently partnering with Ray-Ban and Oakley under the EssilorLuxottica brand to produce AI-powered smart glasses.

• Last year, Meta acquired AI wearable startup Limitless, a maker of pendant devices that record and transcribe real-world conversations, to accelerate efforts to develop the next generation of AI-enabled wearables.
