President Donald Trump is working on all things artificial intelligence, with Meta's top executives expressing strong support for his bold strategy. Speaking at Washington's Tech Summit, Trump outlined his vision for a future driven by American innovation and secured by global artificial intelligence leadership.
“The United States is the country that started AI races,” President Trump said Wednesday. “And as President of the United States, I am here today to declare that America will win it.”
Joel Caplan, Meta's Chief Officer of Global Affairs, praised the plan on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, calling the announcement “very important.”

“This is about putting our country first, creating good jobs, strengthening our economy, and protecting national security,” Kaplan said.

The summit has now passed its 180-day deadline due to an executive order directing federal agencies to develop a comprehensive AI strategy.
The newly released plan outlines efforts to recharge innovation, invest in US infrastructure and lead international standards for AI development and security.
The framework is divided into three main pillars of accelerated innovation, building infrastructure and international AI diplomacy and security, according to management officials, including White House Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Krazios and AI advisor David Sachs.

The written plan seeks to integrate AI into a variety of sectors, including healthcare, energy, agriculture, and national defense. The document emphasizes that AI should support, not replace American workers. It also includes retraining programs for people displaced by automation.

The plan also accused the Biden administration of suppressing innovation and creating a “regulatory system.”
Trump overturned an executive order from the Biden era with AI within hours of returning to his office in January. The order set limits on powerful AI technologies and required companies to notify the federal government before releasing sophisticated models.

Critics say removing these safeguards raises concerns about AI safety, transparency and user privacy. But Trump's team argues that innovation is “too important to suffocating bureaucracy at this early stage.”
Kaplan pointed out China as America's top AI rival, saying that such a plan is essential to moving forward.

“We're doing this very intense competition with China,” he said. “The Chinese government is all in its in terms of supporting AI companies, removing obstacles and building huge amounts of energy to drive them into the data centers needed to build AI.
“If we want to stay ahead, we need to win the race if we want to make sure that the global standards for this technology are set and that it is based on American values,” he added.
