TOKYO (Jiji Press) – A Japanese megabank group is preparing to begin full-scale use of interactive artificial intelligence tools in its internal operations to boost productivity.

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group announced on Tuesday that it plans to run a proof-of-concept of such a tool until September.

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group aims to introduce an interactive AI tool by the end of the year. Mizuho Financial Group is considering a similar move.

Sumitomo Mitsui has partnered with Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. to launch a fully-tuned AI assistant tool for the group.

The bank holding company hopes to determine the usage rules after the demonstration experiment, and to be able to use it for creating business plan materials and materials for customers by September.

Mitsubishi UFJ plans to develop an environment to accommodate interactive AI tools on its internal network by this summer, and to use them to support document creation work for internal procedures.

The company hopes to eventually use this tool for programming to improve the efficiency of system development.
