Machine Learning: More than just a trend, it's becoming essential to every aspect of life

Machine Learning

The Sepul Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Library successfully hosted a book review event titled “Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Python Concepts and Programming” at the CCWS Room on Thursday, June 27, 2024. The event was attended by students, scholars and information technology activists.

To thoroughly examine this 427-page book, two experts spoke: firstly, Prof. Hj. Evi Fatimatur Rusydiyah (M.Ag), Head of Library at Sunan Ampel UIN, Surabaya and Literacy Activist at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, who analysed the book from the perspective of the PIRLS framework measurement tool;

Interestingly, out of the five dimensions of PIRLS, Professor Evi highlighted the “evaluation” dimension as one that needs improvement. He stressed that improving typography, choosing font size, and adding an author profile are important to complete the book. Furthermore, from the dimensions of literal, authentic, inferential causality, and expert evaluation, the book meets the PIRLS criteria.

The second lecturer, Dr. Shoffi Izza Sabilla (S. Kom.), a young and energetic lecturer at the Faculty of Medical Technology and one of the authors of the book, gave an equally interesting presentation. With clear illustrations and an interactive approach, he explained the concepts of machine learning in a clear and easy-to-understand way, even for an audience without an IT background.

The Q&A session was relaxed and demonstrated the participants' enthusiasm and understanding of the presented material. The event's moderator, Indri Sudanawati Rozas, skillfully guided the discussion and drew an iconic conclusion: “Machine learning is not just the domain of IT professionals. Machine learning is needed in all aspects of human life to improve and enhance the quality of life for all of us. Machine learning for humans!”

We hope that this book, Machine Learning and Deep Learning, Python Concepts and Programming, will be a useful source of knowledge for students, academics, and the wider community.

I hope that this book will be a light of knowledge that will illuminate the world (One More).
