However, if used irresponsibly and for the wrong reasons, it has many limitations and users can easily fall into the trap of many poorly designed platforms, high costs, vague privacy protection statements, and most importantly, illusions.

- Jobscan offers users 5 free resume scans when they sign up to the platform. Therefore, it is important to limit its use to jobs that have an “Apply Now” button on the recruitment website. That button is for submitting your resume to the ATS (Nikiforuk, 2025).
- The Job Match feature recommends positions based on your resume, essentially creating a customized job board with hand-picked jobs that match the details in your resume.

- Job Match provides more accurate results compared to Career Dreamer because it is ranked based on fit score, jobs are real, live, and directs users to a company’s career website.

- PathPilot allows you to draft your entire cover letter using downloadable doc and pdf files that you can edit directly. However, we recommend that you use AI-generated materials only as a guide. It is not a substitute for the entire document.
- PathPilot also provides suggestions for improving your skills. However, while most of the recommendations are paid, Career Dreamer offers similar features for free.
- To prepare for an interview, PathPilot can conduct a general mock interview based on your uploaded resume. There are three options to choose from: text, basic audio, and advanced audio.
- The interview prep feature generates 50 different questions divided into five categories: general questions, resume-specific questions, skill-based questions, and developmental questions, making it a great tool for simply practicing your interview skills.

Final notes and considerations
Although AI is beneficial in many ways, regulated use is always recommended. Relying solely on AI to succeed in your job search can be a difficult journey and ultimately lead to a rejection email.
Always remember that there is no substitute for judgment or tone, and that employers can easily tell if an application was generated directly by an AI platform.
Consider reading the privacy policy before signing up, and never reveal personal information such as name, phone number, email, or employer or school name when uploading documents.
Employers prioritize applicants on their own portals, so if possible, prioritize applying on a company’s website, even if the job is posted on a third-party site like LinkedIn, Indeed, or SimplyHired.
Create a job search tracker using Excel or Google Sheets that includes application status, company name, job title, description, links, application dates, contact information, interview dates, notes, and more.
Employers can remove a job posting at any time unless a specific deadline is specified, so it’s important to keep a copy of the job posting when you apply.
The quality of the application material always trumps the quantity of the application, so take your time when adjusting the application.
Job hunting is a long process, and while jumping on the AI train may make it faster, it’s just a tool to get you there, not a replacement for yourself. We won’t get there if we rely on AI and don’t put in the effort. With AI as your guide, finding a job won’t be as bad as people say.
