When some people flatten human creativity with AI, Kairi Meyer ('17 Journalism and Mass Communication) sees an opportunity to prove that credibility and personality are still central to communication.

As the founder of Sales and Web Copywriting Company revealed Studio Co., Meyer built the business and later included AI as an extension of her work. She developed a tool to train AI to maintain the integrity of individual tone.

Meyer began his undergraduate program in Iowa, Kinesiology, and found himself a talent for writing.

“I thought about what I was really good at and I wrote the answer,” Meyer said.

She pivoted to a journalism and mass communication major and welcomed minors in psychology. Her passion for writing led her to work on student publications for the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication and founded Health and Wellness Magazine.

The willingness to build something from scratch sets the tone of her entrepreneurial approach to business.

Building an AI Copywriting Company

After graduating, Meyer joined Institutional Investing's Principal Financial, translating complex economic reports into accessible updates for stakeholders. She gained business skills, but her creative energy was lacking.

By freelancing on the side for content, copying and magazines, she eventually swapped her pay, left her company life and began the process of starting her own company.

Studio Co starts with direct client interaction, now includes template shops, and includes AI tools.

In 2023, AI chatbot ChatGpt had over 1.7 billion users and a year's anniversary. As generative AI became mainstream and pushed into more disciplines, Meyer was skeptical of the rapidly growing adoption of AI in society. She began flagging AI-written content everywhere, trying to prove she couldn't replicate human voices.

“In doing so I proved myself wrong,” Meyer said.

When Meyer studied AI, she realized it could be adjusted to suit her persona.

She developed Complete AI Copy Buddy, a training manual that teaches AI platforms that mimic individual styles. By completing the template and sending it to an AI source, users can get everything they need, from content ideas to full work like social posts, emails, web copies, and business collateral.

With the launch of the training manual, it won $60,000 in two weeks.

With its success, Meyer has driven the creation of Sales & Copy Bestie, a custom-generated pre-training trance (GPT) built from knowledge of psychology and copywriting. The contractor will support her work while she maintains control and direction.

“If people are trying to use AI – I might help them make it better,” she said.

Meyer prioritizes sales psychology, understands how neuroscience drives decisions and retrieves that information to form an effective and compelling message.

“Copying is a message aimed at getting someone to take action,” Meyer explained. “If I don't understand why someone's brain wants to take action, I can't really write a good copy.”

Meyer's clients range from educators and creative service providers to lawyers, accountants and business owners seeking a more keen website, sales page or email funnel.

Myers' vision for success

Meyer attributes her growth to permanence and pure thinking.

“I don't think anything is a mistake. Everything is one step closer to where you want to be,” she said.

This year, Meyer will balance the success of the entrepreneur with her creative side. She finishes a book of poetry, sketches artwork, and outlines her first novel.

“I've built a really successful business for eight years,” Meyer said. “Now, I want to build a life that fills me outside of work.”
