Jimmy Kimmel has slammed Elon Musk and Time magazine for praising the Twitter boss as the 2025 Person of the Year and one of the “Architects of AI” for his focus on AI.
The late night host relayed his remarks on Thursday's episode. Jimmy Kimmel Live! It dramatically unveiled the magazine's cover, which features eight major tech figures, including Musk, Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerberg.
As the audience booed, Kimmel mocked them as “the eight fools of the apocalypse.”
Kimmel slammed the title itself, questioning whether it was wise to praise an “architect” who admitted to not fully understanding how his work works.
He also pointed out the irony of praising a man often accused of automating jobs into extinction. “The people who replaced people are the people of the year,” he quipped.
Kimmel looked at the artwork, took another swipe, and joked that despite all the advances in AI, the cover looked like “Photoshop in 2007.”
The illustration was later announced as a modern homage to the famous 1932 photograph of construction workers above New York City.
The segment also reignited Kimmel's feud with Musk, who once called Kimmel an “intolerable nonsense propaganda puppet” on “X.”
Kimmel accepted the insult, saying Musk himself runs a “literal propaganda machine,” and released a mock graphic built around the phrase to hit back.
Kimmel ended the segment with a final jab, quoting Donald Trump's ridicule of Musk's use of government aid and joking that the two would be a perfect match.
