JALANDHAR: Two days after Akal Takht's Acting Law Minister Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargazi summoned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over a purported video, Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar on Thursday called for an independent investigation under the supervision of the High Court to verify the authenticity of the video, including whether it was generated by AI.“On the one hand, Mr. Mann is talking about enacting a law to sentence those guilty of blasphemy to death. But on the other hand, a disturbing video related to blasphemy in which Mr. Mann was involved is circulating. An impartial investigation should be conducted to ascertain whether the video is real or AI-generated and if it turns out to be genuine, such a person has no moral right to occupy the CM chair of Punjab,” Jakhar said and simultaneously demanded. Speaking at a public event in Polliwal village in connection with the Centre's VB-G RAM G scheme, he accused the CM of spending people's tax money on advertisements across the country for political gain. Jakhar said the money would benefit people if used for development. He questioned how advertisements from other states had benefited the people of Punjab.He said the state was reeling after nine murders in seven days, reflecting the continued deterioration of law and order in the state.He said that despite the increase in drug abuse, the AAP government has started the second phase of anti-drug drive. “By doing so, the government has indirectly acknowledged that the police no longer have the ability to control the situation and that people must protect their homes,” he said.He also asked the CM to reveal the amount released by the state government for village development in the last four years. He also described the Punjab government's health insurance scheme as “deceptive” and said the government only pays premiums of up to Rs 1 million instead of the treatment costs worth Rs 1 million. Jakhar slammed those who opposed the new employment law, saying the new system would put a stop to their illegal profits.
