AI-generated video inspired by the cast and creators of Sholai Social media was filled with nostalgia as they met their younger selves on a movie set.

This short clip recreates iconic moments from the 1975 classic film, blending past and present versions of the actors and writers in a series of nostalgic encounters.

In one scene, Amjad Khan, who plays Gabbar Singh, walks up to an older version of himself and clicks a selfie. In another sequence, Sanjeev Kumar, who plays Thakur, is shown meeting a younger version of the actor and posing for a photo.

Actor Asrani, who played a haunting prison guard in the film, is seen meeting his older, real-life self and taking selfies with the on-screen character. Writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar are also seen greeting and clicking pictures with their younger selves on the set.

The most memorable moment in the video is when Hema Malini, in her current avatar, meets her bubbly character Basanti and takes a smiling selfie with her.

Dharmendra, who passed away last year, is shown meeting his character Veer, while Jaya Bachchan, who played Radha, meets her current self and smiles. Amitabh Bachchan, who plays Jay, is similarly depicted facing the modern version.

The video was shared on X by a user purported to be AP with the caption, “Good to see this kind of use of AI.”

“Nostalgia can only be tackled through AI. Everyone wants to go back to the past and meet their past selves, but it is not possible. It only happens in dreams or through AI,” the user said.

Another user quipped: “Jaya Bachchan smiled! This is only possible because AI is not that intelligent yet!”

“AI went the extra mile to make Jaya Ji smile,” another said.

Some described the video as a heartfelt tribute. One user wrote: “This was great. It made me smile,” while another added: “What a beautiful use of AI. What a great compliment.”

Film director Ram Gopal Varma also shared the video and captioned it, “There are not too many AIs…there are over 200.”

SholaiDirected by Ramesh Sippy, this film remains one of the most iconic and influential films in Indian cinema.
