HYDERABAD: During the Iran-US-Israel conflict, two videos purporting to show Iranian airstrikes on Israel and one video purporting to show Dubai airport on fire have surfaced on social media.
Israeli and US warplanes have launched new attacks across Iran, reportedly killing more than 500 people since the conflict began. Meanwhile, Iran and its proxies continue to attack U.S. allies in the Middle East.
One of the two videos shows multiple air strikes reaching the ground and causing explosions. A second video shows two missiles hitting the city, causing an explosion and sending flames and smoke into the air.
The two videos were shared on X and can be viewed here (Archive) and here (Archive).
User shared a third video on X. There, a plane can be seen standing near the building as huge plumes of smoke billow from the building as firefighters work to extinguish the fire. The post’s caption read: “Right away: Dubai Airport is now completely out of service in the Zionist United Arab Emirates.” (archive)
NewsMeter found this claim to be false. All three videos were generated using AI and spread as footage from recent conflicts.
Analysis of the first video
We carefully reviewed the video and noticed that the explosion produced an intense orange glow, but nearby buildings, including the golden dome, did not naturally reflect light. The missile’s trajectory also moves at speeds and trajectories that appear inconsistent. This anomaly indicates that the video may have been created using AI.
To check the authenticity of the videos, we ran them through the AI-generated content detection tool Hive. The results showed that there was a 99.5% chance that the video was generated using AI.
Analysis of the second video
I noticed some anomalies in the video as well. The explosion expanded unnaturally, and the smoke flickered instead of spreading normally. Buildings and utility poles also looked unusual, distorting and changing shape slightly as the camera moved.
Hive noted that overall, this video was likely generated by AI, with an overall score of 93.6%.
For further verification, I uploaded the video to Google Gemini. “Based on analysis of the video you provided and recent verification data from 2025 and 2026, the footage was generated by AI,” Gemini said.
He also pointed out that many versions of this particular clip originally had watermarks, such as those from Google’s Veo and other AI tools, but were cropped out by social media users to make them appear authentic.
Third video analysis
In this video, I noticed that the smoke doesn’t have a consistent point of origin on the plane. They seemed to emerge from all sides of the craft all at once, moving with the dreamlike fluidity characteristic of AI generators.
We also couldn’t find any reports of a missile attack on Dubai airport that set planes and infrastructure ablaze.
According to the results of the Hive tool, this video was likely generated by AI, with a total score of 84.3%.
To further confirm the authenticity of the video, we uploaded the clip to Deepfake-O-Meter, and the tool gave a strong indication that it was created using AI.
Therefore, we conclude that this claim is false. All three videos are generated by AI.
