Last December, the BBC complained to Apple after a new iPhone feature produced false headlines about murder in the US. CNET reported in January that Apple disables AI notification summary for News and Entertainment apps after the BBC pointed out misleading headlines.
The CNET report noted that after updating to iOS 26, one splash screen was displayed in the AI notification summary. Users are provided with two options, one showing “Select notifications to summarize” and the other showing “Not Not.” Select “Not Now” to remove the splash screen.

iOS 26: Apple issues warnings in AI notification summary
If a user selects “Select notifications to summarize,” they will be taken to a new page that shows three categories: news and entertainment, communication, social, and all other apps. Under the News & Entertainment category, if tapped, warnings are outlined in red.
The warning states that “the summary may change the meaning of the original heading.” Additionally, “Information Verification” will be added for each CNET. Another warning, “This is a beta feature. Summary may contain errors” appears at the bottom of the screen.
The report also claimed that if you don't want to see these summaries, you can simply choose “Do not summarize notifications.”
