Husk unveils AI-driven DER platform to bring modern power to 30 million businesses, homes, and social institutions in the Global South by 2030

India, November 26, 2025 — Husk has announced an AI-powered distributed energy resources (DER) platform that will provide modern power to tens of millions of businesses, homes, and social institutions in the Global South by 2030.
Dubbed the ‘Powering Prosperity’ platform, Husk made the announcement at the African Investment Forum (AIF) as the company officially begins raising funds for its Series E investment. Husk aims to secure $400 million in equity and debt to build at least 2 gigawatts (GW) of distributed solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) in South Asia, Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa by the end of the decade. To date, Husk has raised more than $125 million and has already benefited more than 2.2 million people in two major markets: India and Nigeria.
Husk’s DER platform focuses on three customers: communities, businesses, and homes. Independent grid-connected mini-grids power entire communities, while commercial and industrial (C&I) and residential customers are served by standalone rooftop and ground-mounted systems either on a turnkey EPC basis or through power purchase agreements (PPAs). The platform also serves medical facilities and schools.

Underpinning the platform is a sophisticated digital infrastructure that leverages Husk’s “central nervous system” of both predictive and agentic artificial intelligence (AI).
For example, Husk’s AI algorithms accurately predict energy demand at each mini-grid site, and agent algorithms optimize the operation of generation assets to meet demand at the lowest possible cost in 30-minute intervals. These are cutting-edge algorithms that not only minimize energy supply costs, but also maximize renewable energy in the overall energy mix and provide improved customer service.
Husk’s expansion plans will accelerate Africa’s transition to clean energy and power 300 million people by 2030 under Mission 300, a World Bank and African Development Bank initiative. The World Bank has identified community solar mini-grids as the most capital-efficient solution to bring electricity to 380 million people in sub-Saharan Africa for the first time. Husk’s platform will also support the Government of India’s goal of deploying 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030.
