I was sitting in my studio editing desert off-road footage, staring at two shots that felt completely separate. One is a sweeping, sweeping drone tracking shot of my white Toyota 4Runner across the Utah desert. Another super close-up macro photo of the front suspension was taken with a GoPro right near the wheel well.
We needed a way to smoothly bridge these two angles. Doing this with traditional editing software was an absolute nightmare.
Editing issues
Complex transitions typically require hours of masking, tracking, and keyframing in post-production. Most editing software’s interfaces are ridiculously complex. Testing just one idea takes forever, and half the time the final motion still looks unnatural or forced.
I do not use AI tools to replace my creative process or make decisions on my behalf. I use these to resolve technical friction points that slow down my workflow.
fill the gap
I opened Artlist’s new AI toolkit and used two specific frames to build a custom transition.
First, I exported the final frames from the drone tracking shot. Next, we shot the first frame of close-up suspension footage. I uploaded both images directly to the tool. This gives you a simple and clean interface made specifically for video creators.
I entered detailed motion prompts to the left front wheel that described a high-speed hyperzoom from a wide vehicle perspective, and shifted focus to the shock absorber and control arm. I pressed generate.
result? pure magic.
AI bridged the motion gap and created a hyperzoom effect that would literally be impossible to capture in real life without destroying the camera.
raise standards
AI won’t make you a better storyteller, but it can remove technical limitations. Use these tools to speed up tedious tasks, giving you more time to focus on shooting and creating. Get out there, test new tools, and push your edits even further.
