The hot topic of artificial intelligence and how it applies to improving business productivity will be covered in an upcoming workshop by Briana Cowan of Mingle Media.
While the unknowns surrounding AI can be overwhelming, Cowan said AI can be thought of as additional staff.
“The way I work with AI is exactly the same as hiring an intern,” she says. “To get the best results, you need to tell that AI or intern everything about your business.”
“You don't just ask questions, you allow them to ask you questions. It's like having a two-way conversation.”
“That's really important because the smarter we are, the better the outcomes.”
Cowan said AI could help rewrite texts.
“For example, if you're writing an email to a client or customer, you might want to rephrase something a bit,” she says.
“They write it out and then they run it through an AI. They tell the AI what they want the tone of the piece to be or what the overall purpose is, and the AI reworks the piece to match those instructions.”
Cowan warned anxious local business owners that they risk being left behind if they don't embrace the scheme. “The time to jump on board is now. Your competitors are undoubtedly taking advantage of it. You just have to get over your fears and actually embrace it,” he said.
The “AI in Business: Improving Productivity and Inspiring Creativity” workshop will take place on Friday, August 9, from 10:30am to 12pm at the Quality Hotel Lakeside.
Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite.
