  • Companies across industries are hiring talent to help develop and use generative AI.
  • JPMorgan Chase, Accenture, and Disney are among the companies posting AI-related jobs.
  • Base salaries at publicly traded companies often exceed $100,000, and salaries can reach up to $338,000.

AI developers, engineers, and consultants have many new job opportunities, even at companies outside of traditional technology industries. And the pay is good, with many AI job postings listing salaries well over $100,000.

Armed with AI knowledge, companies can leverage internal data more extensively, such as to help make better predictions and decisions in job applications, said Aaron Saines, director of Austin-based tech recruiting firm Lasolue. They say they are looking for someone. . He said earlier this year that an agricultural client was exploring the possibility of using AI to estimate crop yields.

“The demand for professionals with knowledge in AI research, machine learning, and deep learning truly exceeds the supply of available candidates,” said Saines.

This means companies are offering salaries above six figures to attract experienced candidates. Even at non-tech companies, the base salary for an AI researcher role can range from $150,000 to $250,000, Sines said.

“I do think there is a shortfall, and our customers are acutely aware of that, and that's essentially driving upward pressure on compensation,” he said.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is hiring software engineers who can develop generative AI models at base salaries of $194,750 to $285,000. Preferred qualifications for the job, announced in mid-December, include experience using machine learning algorithms and knowledge of the latest in generative AI research.

meanwhile, Disney is seeking to hire a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in machine learning, algorithms, and statistical methods. The entertainment giant is offering annual salaries of $145,400 to $199,870, according to job postings posted in early December.

A few months ago, insurance company Travelers listed a data engineer position seeking AI expertise with a base salary of $113,900 to $188,000. The company's CEO, Alan Schnitzer, acknowledged the company's push into AI in an earnings call the month the job was posted, saying, “So many of our employees have always felt the need to… “We are working towards the goal of being in the lead.” AI is here. ”

AI-related jobs don't necessarily require engineering or coding skills.

Consulting giant Accenture is currently hiring an Advisor Manager for its global Responsible AI team to lead AI projects for its clients.

The ideal candidate, whose annual salary ranges from $93,400 to $338,300, depending on the applicant's skills and location, will have experience working in Congress and have a deep understanding of AI policy. is stated in the list.

Companies from a variety of industries specifically list ChatGPT experience as a plus in their job postings.

As of December, remote work job site Crossover was looking for an AI prompting engineer with “substantial experience” working with generative AI models such as GPT-4 for $50 an hour.

That same month, AstraZeneca, a pharmaceutical company developing a COVID-19 vaccine, posted a job posting for a generative AI implementation manager with experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT.
