How TikTok is bringing AI to its platform with “Symphony”

AI Video & Visuals

Short-form video app TikTok has launched Symphony, a creative content suite powered by generative AI. Its most visible feature is a video generator tool that can create short clips from existing assets or product URLs.

Aimed at app marketers and content creators, the new suite hopes to simplify the creative process and blend human imagination with the potential of artificial intelligence.

Services include Symphony Assistant, Symphony Creative Studio, Symphony Digital Avatars, and TikTok Ads Manager optimization.

Symphony Creative Studio is the most adventurous tool in the suite as it lets you carry out the entire task of creating your TikTok videos all by yourself.

It allows users to insert a product URL or import an existing asset, after which the AI engine will display a range of custom video previews for them to choose from.

Your script can be converted into narration and dubbed into multiple languages to give your video global appeal.

This saves creators a lot of effort, but viewers will know too, as all videos made using the feature will be automatically labeled as AI-generated.

Chatbot assistants, digital avatars, and more AI coming to TikTok

With the introduction of this suite, users will have to say goodbye to the old “Creative Assistant” feature, as it has evolved into the new “Symphony Assistant.”

The AI-powered virtual assistant has a very similar design to the ChatGPT interface, and the company describes it as a guide “to navigate TikTok's creative world, helping you brainstorm ideas, implement best practices, identify trends, and find inspiration.”

Like any AI chatbot, the new tool needs a prompt to spark ideas, which could be anything from “Show me what's trending on TikTok” to “Show me the best performing ads in your industry.”

It is currently available in English, Spanish, German, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Thai, Japanese, Indonesian and Chinese, with more languages planned for support in the future.

Once users enter the content creation process and complete the first step, they will be able to create a custom avatar.

This means brands can create their own digital avatars using their own IP, spokespeople, or partnered creators – and for accounts that already have someone driving the business, the avatar can be in that person's likeness.

You can also create multilingual avatars with the goal of expanding your global reach.
