Through an AI framework, Oshkosh analyzed part demand patterns, existing warehouse capacity, and customer proximity to accurately determine which parts to stock and where, optimizing availability and minimizing waste. The result: faster delivery times, higher customer satisfaction, and measurable revenue increases. Khare says this is where AI shines, not just automating tasks, but enabling smarter, faster decisions that can revolutionize business performance.
Building AI literacy and trust
Khare has put culture change and governance at the core of Oshkosh's AI journey. In 2025, the company conducted an eight-part AI Literacy Series with over 1,200 team members passionate about understanding how AI applies to their roles. For example, on-demand digital training complements live sessions and makes AI education available across your organization. According to Khare, ongoing AI education is essential to building trust and engagement.
The AI Enablement Council, which includes leaders from IT, legal, cybersecurity, and business, also meets regularly to address risk, accelerate adoption, and prioritize investments. The team also tracks model usage and accuracy and intervenes when adoption is slow. Khare explains that trust is a two-way street, as they measure whether models are being used, how they are performing, and have honest conversations when adoption is not appropriate. He added that this level of involvement helps build lasting trust with companies.
