Many users begin their research on State Net by bringing up a specific law.
State Net allows you to search by general terms as well as the legal bill name and number. The platform also offers extensive tags and filters to easily guide you to the right results.
Once a particular bill is found, State Net displays the most recent version of that document, as well as metadata showing when and how it was changed.
The new feature leverages generative AI to provide an overview of documents as they are viewed, showing key changes, key requirements, affected individuals and organizations, and other data.
State Net also includes a tool to compare different versions of a selected invoice side by side.
Meanwhile, the overview feature allows you to track the progress of your measurements. All recent updates and upcoming events, such as committee hearings and scheduled votes, are displayed.
Based on extensive historical data, State Net also generates a prediction of whether the measure is likely to become law. It also provides a “momentum meter” that shows if your bill is moving slower or faster than usual, as well as a number of other data points.
State Net also introduced a regulatory analytics capability that provides similar analysis for state agency rulemaking.
Finally, a tracking center appears with each selected measure, allowing you to assign different types of tags.
This allows you to link to specific clients, track invoices based on their likelihood of passing the bill, and add your own custom notes, just to name a few.
