As generative and agentic AI becomes more important, companies are facing a new question: not if, but where. In this episode, Put “I” in AIAt this event, hosted by CIO.com’s Chris Pullam, leaders from HCLTech and Intel will discuss the rise of AI PCs and why on-device intelligence is becoming the cornerstone of enterprise AI strategies.
“Hybrid AI is a reality,” said Sara Wiskas, general manager of commercial client and data center sales at Intel. “There will be meaningful workloads in the cloud, and there will be meaningful workloads at the edge and on devices. Running AI where it makes the most sense reduces latency, improves privacy, and even enables offline intelligence.”
Zuber Khan, head of Intel Ecosystem Business Unit at HCLTech, points out that this change is being driven not only by IT but also by users. “AI consumption is no longer centralized,” he explains. “Developers, engineers, analysts, and frontline workers want to embed intelligence directly into the places they work. AI PC marks a shift from asking, can we make AI happen to asking, how quickly can we make AI available?”
For regulated industries, proximity to users can be transformative. “Life sciences and healthcare deal with highly sensitive data,” says Joelian Jose, Global Leader of Digital Foundation Services at HCLTech. “The ability to perform local inference, where data never leaves the device, allows organizations to easily innovate while maintaining compliance and trust.”
Throughout our conversation, all three guests emphasized that AI PC success requires more than just adoption. Leaders must align use cases to real-world workflows, invest in change management, and measure outcomes that matter.
