Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has formed a strategic partnership with C3 AI, an enterprise AI application software company, to enhance shipbuilding capabilities.

Partners will increase digital technology usage and integrate AI to improve the efficiency of shipbuilding processes in HII's Newport News Shipbuilding and Ingall Shipbuilding sectors.

The integration of AI solutions with HII spans planning, operations, supply chain management, and labor allocation.

Initially, partners will focus on employing AI to optimize planning and scheduling tasks within the two shipbuilding sectors of HII.

Ingalls Shipbuilding focuses on the development of amphibious ships and destroyers, and Newport News Shipbuilding is building nuclear generators and submarines for the US Navy.

Additionally, the HII and C3 AI partnership examines potential advances in uncondemned vehicle production and maintenance.

These efforts are expected to promote production timelines and strengthen preparations for the US Navy fleet.

“We're looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Chris Kastner, CEO of HII. “Increasing shipbuilding throughput is an important priority for the HII and the US Navy. We are proud to partner with C3AI to leverage digital capabilities such as artificial intelligence in emergency operations to supply vessels to the US Navy.”

The partnership follows the six-month Enterprise AI production deployment program at INGALLS shipbuilding.

During the programme, shipbuilding teams used complex algorithms to improve and improve work schedules, the company said.

The deployment of C3 AI applications with the C3 Agent AI platform significantly enhances scheduling performance. These improvements are set to expand throughout the HII shipyard operations.

“We are pleased to announce that C3 AI Chairman and CEO Thomas Siebel:

“By deploying enterprise AI across planning, operations and supply chains, we drive modern and intelligent infrastructure to ensure America's advantage in naval preparation.”

In March 2025, HII Division Ingalls Shipbuilding launched its third US Navy flight III Early bark-class (ddg 51) guided missile destroyer, future USS Jeremiah Denton (DDG 129).
