Less than two months after its release, OpenAI’s Sora 2 is already taking over social media feeds. The new Sora AI video generator app offers nearly limitless possibilities (though you’ll have to pay to generate more videos after you reach the daily limit). Initially, early adopters were given an invitation code to test the latest features, but now everything has changed.
OpenAI currently allows code-free access to users in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea. Gone are the days of jumping through hoops to gain access and participate in viral trends. However, OpenAI says this offer is for a “limited time only.”
If you’re outside of these regions, you’ll need to wait until you have more access or find an invitation code. Here’s how it works:

How to download and log in to Sora without a code
- Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store.
- Sign in using your ChatGPT account (the same login you use for ChatGPT or ChatGPT Plus).
- that’s it. If you live in the US, Canada, Japan, or South Korea, you don’t need an invitation code.
Log in and immediately start watching, sharing, and creating AI-generated videos on your Sora feed.
If you are not located in one of these countries, you will need to log in using one of the following methods:
OpenAI’s Sora is available as an iOS app or from the Sora.com website.
How to get an invitation code for OpenAI’s Sora app
To get your invitation code, follow these first steps:
- Download the Sora app from the Apple App Store. Be sure to choose the one with the navy and white cloud icon.
- Log in with your ChatGPT account or Use another account.
- tap Notify me when access opens.
- A pop-up window allows Sora to send you push notifications.
OpenAI said in a post that it has begun initial deployment in the U.S. and Canada and plans to quickly expand to other countries. The company prioritizes paid Pro users for access to Sora, but you don’t need to be a paid user to access Sora. Although Android users cannot scroll through the app, they can use an invitation code to generate AI video clips on Sora 2 through a web browser.
Once you have your invitation code, you can finish setting up your Sora account. You will then be able to use Sora through the mobile app or website and will have access to four new invitation codes that you can share with your friends.
How to get a Sora 2 invitation code through Discord
If you don’t want to wait to go through OpenAI’s waiting list, you can also try your luck through Discord. Here’s how:
- Join the official OpenAI server. If you don’t have Discord, please click here How to create an account.
- Link your ChatGPT account to your Discord profile. OpenAI shows you how.
- be patient. It took about 15 hours for OpenAI to link my account and grant me access to the server.
- Once in the server, go to #sora-2-codes.
- Post a message to see if anyone has a spare invitation code you can use.
Please be aware of OpenAI’s server rules and do not sell Sora 2 invitation codes.
