HaUpside launches “Original Intelligence” category

Machine Learning

Hupside has introduced a new category called “Original Intelligence” in conjunction with the debut of the Original Intelligence Challenge at CES 2026 and the start of National Original Intelligence Week, which concludes Friday, according to a press release sent by the company to ExecutiveBiz.

This effort aims to address the growing homogenization of ideas generated by AI by defining and measuring how human thinking diverges from the output of large-scale language models.

“LLMs are making ideas more homogenized, and companies can no longer rely solely on technology to differentiate themselves,” said Jonathan Aberman, CEO of Hapside. “Originality is our strength now.”

What is original intelligence?

According to Hupside, original intelligence refers to the human ability to generate ideas that fall outside the predictable patterns produced by generative AI systems. The company positions OI as a measurable capability designed to transform the way organizations measure creativity and problem-solving as AI tools become widely adopted across industries.

How does the Original Intelligence Challenge work?

Those who participate in the Original Intelligence Challenge, a short, interactive assessment that compares participants' responses to both AI-generated and human benchmarks, receive an Original Intelligence Index and are categorized into originality types based on how their ideas differ from model-generated standards. Haupside said the challenge is patent pending and is designed to produce results within minutes.

Why is Hupside introducing new metrics now?

The announcement reflects concerns that widespread adoption of AI is not leading to consistent business returns.

“AI tools are everywhere, but most companies fail to achieve a satisfactory return on investment because they don't focus on the human creativity needed to master them,” Aberman said.

The Original Intelligence Challenge is built on Hupside's Hupchecker assessment platform. The company previously said the tool is aimed at helping organizations effectively use AI to identify individuals who are likely to act beyond typical outcomes.
