GPT-Lab, based at the University of Tampere in Finland, reported on LinkedIn about the Business Crystal Ball event held at Crazy Town Oy in Pori. GPT-Lab focuses on applied research in generative AI, and the event forms part of the GENT project, a regional initiative aimed at making generative AI practical, safe and accessible for businesses in the Satakunta region.
According to a GPT-Lab post, speakers presented real-world examples and case studies that demonstrate how companies can leverage generative AI to support business development and streamline operations. This session included contributions from researchers and industry partners working on applied AI use cases.
The university’s broad research community includes Tampere University of Applied Sciences, a multidisciplinary institution with more than 12,000 students and a focus on technology, health and business.
Speakers discuss EU AI law, applied AI tools and enterprise integration systems
In a separate post on LinkedIn, Chalisa Veesommai Sillberg from the Faculty of Information and Communication Sciences described the event as “a great opportunity to share our thoughts on EU AI law and AI tools for SMEs.” In another post, she wrote that she presented insights into “how EU AI law and AI law tools can help prepare small and medium-sized businesses,” adding that her team was developing “better, more practical AI guidance for small and medium-sized enterprises.”
GPT-Lab noted that keynote speaker Harri Ketamo focused on transitioning from personal AI usage to enterprise integrated AI processes. The discussion explored how organizations can safely deploy AI, meet upcoming regulatory requirements, and identify areas where generative AI can improve efficiency.
GPT-Lab Deputy Director and Postdoctoral Researcher Muhammad Waseem also joined LinkedIn to highlight the project’s focus on making generative AI more accessible. Waseem wrote, “We shared how the GPT-Lab (Tampere University) GENT project is making generative AI practical, safe and accessible for businesses in the Satakunta region, helping them optimize their business operations with GenAI.”
AI introduction support project for local companies
GENT projects focus on co-creation with businesses and public sector organizations. GPT-Lab researchers will conduct AI-assisted experiments based on challenges identified by participating companies and generate concrete examples of how generative AI can be applied to everyday work.
The solutions, materials and methodologies developed through this project are designed to be adaptable for use across Satakunta and support the region’s broader goals of digital capability and competitiveness.
Waseem concluded his LinkedIn post by thanking the event team and writing, “A great experience speaking in Poly at the Business Crystal Ball event…amazing presentations by Hari Ketamo, Kai-Kristian Kemer, and Charisa Visomai Silberg.”
