Jakarta (Antara) – The Indonesian government is striving to accelerate the implementation of digitalization of public services by utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Founded under Presidential Regulation No. 83 in 2025, the government's Acceleration Committee on Digital Transformation will implement President Prabowo Subianto's directive to accelerate the digitalization of public services by utilizing Artificial Intelligence Technology (Govtech AI).

Head of National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who also chairs the government's Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee, led the committee's first meeting at the National Economic Council office in central Jakarta on Tuesday.

According to a press release from the Ministry of Communications on Wednesday, Panzitan said the implementation of Govtech AI is projected to significantly improve budgetary efficiency through bureaucratic efficiency and digitalisation of public services.

“The potential efficiency is estimated to reach Rs 350 trillion to Rs 400 trillion by 2026, which will help the government reduce its fiscal deficit,” he said.

Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid, as Vice-Chair II of the government's Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee, said that accelerated digital transformation can be achieved with the support of intersectoral agencies in planning, funding, procurement and implementation.

She said the Ministry of Communications will oversee the implementation of technical requirements for the implementation of Govtech AI.

“The committee team oversees the details, including selecting the most appropriate technology to be used in rapid technology development,” she said.

In implementing government digital transformation, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs is tasked with handling digital infrastructure, digital applications, digital data coordination, and cybersecurity coordination with national cyber and cryptocurrency agencies.
