The rapper said he loves seeing his fans “close” but people don't believe that even those fans are real
Will Smith is roasted in a promotional video that claims many people are AI-generated crowds, saying they love watching fans “get closer.”
The 56-year-old rapper and actor began his British foot based on Sunday's true story tour and hit Cardiff on his second show yesterday.
Stops are approaching in Manchester, London and Wolverhampton, but what people are actually talking about is a promotional video on Instagram before the date.
What should have been sweet emotion is captioning the clip. “My favorite part of the tour is seeing you close by. I want to see you too,” concludes the Red Love Heart emoji.
But speculation has been rounded among fans for the first few days since the Post after people spotted a truly strange glitches in the background.
In some of the clips, the audience members appear strangely distorted, with blurry faces and extended arms appearing to pass straight through.
One particularly inexplicable scene shows a tearful man clutching the sign that reads “You can help him survive cancer. ThxWill.”
The scene that left fans was particularly perplexed via @willsmith on Instagram
But even those emotional moments come into play. The woman standing in front of him looks like she's holding his hand, but does another fan's headband cut her arm straight?
Needless to say, the comments section is ruthless and people are branding the video “embarrassing.”
One Instagram user claims that “half of the footage is AI,” and encourages another user to “delete this video.”
On Reddit, people asked who runs the Star PR. Anyone behind the brand deals insist on “running this guy through the mud.”
Another commenter cherished Brevity and chose to enter only “fresh curls.”
Some fans have suggested that “image upscaling is horribly wrong” or that AI could have been used to turn actual images of fans into video footage.
The tour follows Will's first studio album in 20 years. This is also based on a true story in the UK where it couldn't chart and didn't work with critics.
Live performances have reportedly been on track so far, but the controversy among AI fans occurs during periods of uncertainty during Will's acting career. And of all of that, it's not exactly ideal to say you love seeing fans near a fake crowd.
