February 11, 2026 (MLN): Governments are leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance public service delivery, improve revenue management, and drive evidence-based policymaking.
Federal Minister of Finance and Revenue, Senator Mohammad Aurangzeb made the remarks during a panel discussion titled ‘AI for Public Service Transformation and SDG Acceleration’ at the National Artificial Intelligence Workshop.
The finance minister stressed that Pakistan is not focused on indigenous technology but on practical AI applications that will bring tangible benefits in efficiency, transparency and productivity.
He stressed that AI-driven tools are being integrated into the ongoing tax reform through customer relationship management systems, production monitoring, risk-based compliance mechanisms and faceless customer processes to reduce leakages, limit human discretionary intervention, curb corruption and generate tangible financial benefits, he said in an issued press release.
He also pointed to the establishment of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) to regulate emerging digital assets and safeguard financial stability, and stressed the need to invest in youth skills, blockchain and data analytics to support productivity-led growth through coordinated digital transformation and address challenges such as climate and population management.
The event was also attended by the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environment Coordination Musadiq Malik, the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal.
