Google's parent company Alphabet's market capitalization reached $4 trillion on Monday (January 12), driven by its recent success in the artificial intelligence (AI) field.

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that the company's stock hit a record high of $334.04 in intraday trading, pushing its market capitalization to $4.03 trillion for the first time.

Alphabet became the fourth company to reach the $4 trillion milestone, following Apple, Microsoft and Nvidia, according to the report. Apple and Microsoft's market capitalizations have since fallen to $3.8 trillion and $3.6 trillion, respectively, according to the report.

The Journal attributed some of Alphabet's gains to Apple's announcement Monday that it has selected Google's Gemini AI model to power the next version of its Siri chatbot.

According to the report, Alphabet has also made other achievements in the field of artificial intelligence, including the launch of Gemini 3, Gemini's monthly user base increasing from 450 million last summer to 650 million now, and the ability of AI models in a wide range of applications.

These developments helped turn around investor sentiment, which had been depressed when OpenAI's ChatGPT launch in 2022 raised concerns that chatbots would replace Google search engines.

Reuters reported on Monday that Google's AI gains have eased investor concerns and put the company among the top contenders in the AI race.

The report added that Alphabet's stock price rose about 65% in 2025, outpacing the stocks of other members of the Magnificent Seven group of technology companies.

PYMNTS reported in November 2025 that Alphabet's search and other advertising revenue rose about 15% in the third quarter, defying expectations that generative AI systems would eat into the company's core business.

When Google and Apple announced their partnership on Gemini and Siri on Monday, they said the next version of Apple's base model will be based on Google's Gemini model and cloud technology, and that these models will help enhance the capabilities of Apple Intelligence.

“After careful evaluation, Apple determined that Google's AI technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models, and we are excited about the innovative new experiences it will bring to Apple users,” the companies said in a joint statement.
