What you need to know
- VEO 3's AI video generator is free to all Gemini users until 10pm on August 24th.
- Each user can create up to three 8-second clips during the promotion.
- The video contains auto-generated sounds, but prompts with specific audio details will give you better results.
Google does not need it for Pro or Ultra Plan, but it opens the VEO 3 AI video tool for free and free to all Gemini users, but the clock is ticking.
VEO 3 allows you to turn the text prompt into an 8-second video using audio. This is usually reserved for payment subscribers. Google is offering it free to all Gemini users until 10pm on Sunday, August 24th, according to the prompt in-game app (via 9to5google).
However, according to X's Google's Gemini account, users say that they can only generate up to three videos each during this promotion.
Even if you're a paid Google AI Pro subscriber ($19.99 a month), you'll usually get 3 generations a day. Paid users can also create high quality videos with Google's Flow Online Video Editor.
Bringing Veo 3 video generation to Gemini was a major upgrade to the platform. Initially limited to Google's AI Ultra plan, this feature was rolled out in the AI Pro tier in May, allowing access to more users.
This author saw the same prompt pop up when opening the Gemini app on Android, so it appears that this promotion is available not only in the US but also around the world.

Includes catch sounds
VEO 3 video is limited to 8 seconds and comes with an automatic audio track, but if you don't specify what you want, use a generic filler. Adding clear sound instructions will match the final clip to your vision.
9to5Google reports that Google has strengthened its computing power to handle the expected traffic for this trial.
The move appears to be geared up for this weekend's rollout when Gemini and Google's lab head Josh Woodward said the team is “setting and warming up today's TPU load.”
To try VEO 3, open the Gemini app on mobile or on the web and select the video option from the prompt bar. You can also find it in the 3-dot menu.
