Google officially deployed its latest AI-powered video creation tool, Veo 3, to Gemini users in the Middle East, marking a major regional expansion of its generator media technology. Currently, you can pay for Gemini users and VEO 3 allows you to generate video clips of movies from simple text prompts.
VEO 3: From prompts to production
Initially announced at Google I/O 2024, VEO 3, the company's annual developer conference held in May, quickly attracted attention for its high realism, advanced physics simulation and accurate lip-syncing capabilities. At the launch event at Google I/O, Eli Collins, vice president of products at Google Deepmind, said:Users can enter a brief description of the scene, such as “old fog streets in Tokyo with neon lights and light rain.” VEO3 responds by generating an 8-second 720p video that integrates ambient sound, spoken language, realistic effects, and visual elements that closely reflect input descriptions.According to Collins, VEO 3 not only performs standard text-to-video generation, but also supports image prompts and introduces new benchmarks for responsive AI video design. He wrote in a blog post:“VEO 3 excels from text and image prompts from real-world physics to accurate lip synchronization,” highlighting the strengths of realism, responsiveness and user control.
Compete Sora And raise the bar
With its ability to generate native audio, such as background noise, soundtracks, and narration, VEO 3 is positioned as a direct rival to Openai's SORA, which also falls in the race that dominates the generated video space. What sets the VEO 3 apart is the combination of multimodal generation (text, images, sounds) and its physically recognized rendering, allowing dreamy short films, product concepts, or even virus memes to craft realistic, cinematic scenes. One example of social media popularity included a surreal AI-generated clip from Will Smith Eating Spaghetti, which attracted attention on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter).
Transparency due to transparency
To ensure content reliability, all VEO 3 videos come with built-in Synthid Watermark, an invisible digital signature from Google, designed to label AI-generated content. This helps track and verify the origins of synthetic media, especially in an era of increased deep fake risk.In addition to hidden watermarks, except for videos created by ultra-tier members using Google's new flow filmmaking platform, Veo-generated videos carry a visible watermark to clearly show that the video was generated to AI. Google is testing the SynthID detector tool to make it easier for individuals and platforms to identify synthetic media.
Expanding global access
The launch of VEO 3 in the Middle East, debuting in other markets earlier this year, opens the door for local creators, filmmakers, marketers and digital storytellers to explore high-end AI video creation without the need for traditional equipment and editing tools. This deployment is part of Google's broader strategy for integrating generator AI into everyday creative workflows, particularly through the Gemini platform, and continues to gain traction among experts and enthusiasts.
