Google announced Wednesday that it is introducing new agent features to AI mode. AI mode is a tool that allows users to ask complex questions within a search and follow up to learn more about a subject.
In AI mode, users can now receive event tickets as well as assistance in scheduling wellness and beauty appointments.
For example, say, “Find me two cheap tickets to an upcoming Shabouzi concert.” Priority will be given to standing floor tickets. AI mode examines several websites to identify current ticket possibilities that meet your needs. You will then be presented with a curated list of ticket prices. You can go directly to the reservation page from AI mode to complete your purchase.
Google first introduced the Agent feature in AI mode in August, and began allowing users to search for restaurant reservations based on multiple preferences, including party size, date, time, location, and preferred cuisine. For example, you could ask, “Please find me dinner reservations for three in the Logan Square area after 6pm this Friday. I’d like ramen or bibimbap.”
AI mode looks at several reservation systems to determine the current availability of restaurants that match your query. Then carefully selected options will appear.
Google says on its Search Labs page that “providing users with trusted, high-quality information is a priority at Google Search.” “While this new mode is still an early experiment and there may be mistakes, it is based on our core quality and safety systems,” it added.
To compete with well-known services like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search, Google first introduced AI mode in March. Since then, the tech giant has expanded the capabilities of AI Mode, making it available in more than 180 countries. For example, AI mode now gives you access to the Canvas feature, allowing you to create study schedules and arrange data across multiple sessions in the side panel. Additionally, you can now use Google Lens to ask questions about what you see on your desktop screen.
