Google adds AI image and video generation and other tools to Google TV

AI Video & Visuals

Google has introduced a series of updates to Google TV that add AI-powered image and video generation tools, expanded photo capabilities, and a new short video feed for your TV screen.

This update includes support for image creation with the Nano Banana tool, allowing users to edit or generate images on compatible TVs using text prompts. Another video generation feature, Veo, allows users to create short videos or animate existing images directly on the TV through AI-generated prompts.

The feature will first roll out to Gemini-enabled TCL Google TVs in the US.

We’re also adding new voice search capabilities to Google Photos on Google TV devices. Users will be able to use voice commands to search their photo library to find specific events, trips, or images to display on their TV screen.

Additional updates include a “remix” feature that lets you apply artistic styles like watercolor or oil painting effects to your photos, and support for dynamic slideshows that turn your Google Photos albums into TV screensavers. The slideshow feature will be available globally on eligible Google TV devices, but photo search and remix will first launch on Gemini-enabled devices in the US.

The company also announced plans to add a “Short Videos for You” section to the Google TV home screen later this summer in the US. This feature provides a personalized feed of short-form videos, including YouTube Shorts content.
