This week we called it the 7-Eleven update because we saw a change in Google search rankings around July 11th. Bing said it won’t do one-time search penalties because it’s not scalable. Google Image Search is celebrating 25 years with an all-new Image Search homepage. Google AI Overview will soon show AI-generated images in responses. Google talked about quality issues with AI-generated content that cause indexing issues. Google says that you should not use lastmod if the date is likely to be incorrect. Google reaffirms the use of self-referential regular expressions. Google has confirmed that it is testing hiding/showing sponsored product results in Google Shopping. Google Merchant Center is testing new AI performance reporting. Google Ads says it won’t make any broader updates to Smart Bidding, but the PPC industry is not happy. Starting in August, Google Ads will enable local inventory ads in Shopping campaigns. Google Ads PMax product reports now use all networks. Google Ads requires a valid reason when removing access from users. New options have been added to conversion tracking status in Google Ads. Google Ads has new previews for assets, text customization, and final URL expansion. A new Collected Information screen for Google Business Profiles is now available to some users. The Google Reviews bug is currently being worked on and will be fixed soon. Apple Maps Ads prohibits home service ads, which is a big problem. ChatGPT ads capture location, audience, and negative keywords. ChatGPT Ads also added new attribute sales and sales ROAS metrics, as well as a new product detail level screen.
