Google on Thursday announced new artificial intelligence features for Gmail. It's an effort by the tech giant to revamp its 22-year-old messaging app as the use of AI grows.
These advances include helping users compose messages, finding information buried in email inboxes, delivering daily to-do lists, and more. Gmail's new AI features will initially be available only in English in the United States. Some features are available for free to all users, while others require a G1 Ultra and Pro subscription.
Alphabet's Google is rolling out new email tools as it incorporates the power of its latest large-scale language model, Gemini 3, into online search and other applications. However, this push comes amid growing privacy concerns about the use of generative AI, including the potential for access to personal information.

With this new feature, all Gmail users will have access to a tool that Google calls “Help Me Write” to help users with their grammar and expressions. The technology analyzes a user's previous emails to better understand their writing style, allowing them to personalize their emails and suggest ways to respond to messages in real-time.
Gmail also offers an AI summary feature that summarizes email conversations and highlights important points from long threads.
Both features are available in the web and mobile versions of Gmail.
Blake Barnes, vice president of products at Google, said:
Google provides paid Pro and Ultra subscribers with access to technology that allows users to ask natural language questions directly in the Gmail search bar. Subscribers also have access to a dedicated chatbot for follow-up questions.
For example, instead of manually searching for last month's electricity bill, users can ask, “What was my electricity bill last month?” Gemini scans your email history, highlighting information and giving you direct access to relevant messages.
Another feature, “AI Inbox,” is also being rolled out to a small number of customers for testing. When you turn on this feature, it scans your inbox and suggests to-do lists and topics you might want to explore.
On the other hand, so-called “Catch me up” tools provide users with reminders of upcoming events and appointments. This includes, but is not limited to, future reservations, purchases, deliveries, canceled or rescheduled reservations.
How to opt out
Building AI directly into Gmail could be a risk for Google, as large language models can display false or misleading information. And while users can proofread AI-powered messages before sending them, they are still technically prone to making mistakes.
Still, Gmail users can turn off the AI feature. To do this, users should open their Gmail account settings and[全般]in tab[スマート]You will need to scroll down to the Features and Personalization section. Then the user[Gmail、Chat、Meet のスマート機能を有効にする]You need to uncheck it and save your changes.
