GCash, a Philippine e-wallet and digital financial services platform, unveiled a series of innovative features at its recent GCash Futurecast event aimed at strengthening the fintech environment and improving consumer experience.
GCash President and CEO Martha Sazon kicked off the event with a bold statement about the company’s mission.
“Today, we can expect ‘game-changing’ innovations, but the real game-changer is if we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of Filipinos,” she said, emphasizing the goal of providing access and partnering to improve the financial health and wellness of Filipinos.
One of the key innovations announced is Online PaySafe, a security feature designed to protect online transactions. The feature incorporates multi-factor authentication to mitigate the risks of account takeover, payment fraud links and website spoofing, and directs customers to the GCash app during the payment process.
AI-powered Gigi: an upgraded help center chatbot
GCash has also introduced an upgraded version of its generative artificial intelligence (AI)-powered help centre chatbot, Gigi, which can now handle general inquiries, escalate complex issues, conduct security checks, access past conversations and connect users to a live agent when needed.
The event also unveiled GScore AI, a feature that assesses users' creditworthiness and loan eligibility based on their app usage, eliminating the need for additional documentation. Another notable feature is Hyper-Personalized Ads, an ad serving platform that leverages AI to learn users' shopping preferences and surface personalized offers from GCash's partners and merchants.
Leveraging AI for Financial Literacy and User Growth
GCoach AI, an in-app financial advisor, was also announced. The tool uses generative AI to educate users on how to spend, save and grow their money, providing personalized insights and linking users to an in-app automated deposit feature.
Neil Trinidad, Chief Marketing Officer of GCash, elaborated on the role of AI in enhancing user experience. He highlighted GCoach AI's ability to analyze spending and savings habits to provide users with tailored financial advice. Trinidad also mentioned the use of AI in GScore, which helps users avail loans by providing a reliable credit score. With 94 million users, GCash continues to lead the way in providing comprehensive financial services including payments, loans, savings, investments and insurance.
AI-Driven Solutions for Business
GCash has also partnered with Chubb to introduce Send Money Protect, a service that allows users to insure their transactions against potential scammers for up to 30 days, protecting them from scammers who may be impersonating known contacts or legitimate merchants.
Claude Gomez, Head of Marketing Strategy and Insights at GCash, highlighted how AI has revolutionized marketing, especially in targeting, copy and visual development, and performance evaluation. AI enables businesses to improve customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and gain real-time insights.
GCash Partner Investment and Marketing Head Kay Lagman stressed the importance of adopting AI technology to future-proof businesses in an ever-changing market environment. The company's solutions include advertising solutions, promotional solutions, identity solutions and green solutions, providing effective marketing and data solutions that help businesses succeed in the digital age.
