Yashar Party Leader Gadi Eisenkot on Friday filed a petition with the Central Elections Committee against Religious Zionist Party Leader and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, demanding that Smotrich remove an AI-generated video in which Eisenkot claims Eisenkot advocates the establishment of a Palestinian state.

According to straw The petition denounced the video as a “manipulative attempt by the Religious Zionist Party to intentionally deceive the electorate,” according to Friday’s report.

The video, posted by Smotrich to X/Twitter on Tuesday, shows Eisenkot shaking hands and posing with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Ra’am party leader MK Mansour Abbas.

The video also shows the Israeli flag being replaced by a Palestinian flag with the text: “The Eisenkot government means the creation of a Palestinian state.”

Yashar called on the head of the General Elections Committee to take a decision to “set clear boundaries” and outlined that “election campaigns must not become a place where lies, manipulation and fake AI content replace facts.”

Eisenkot’s petition accused Smotrich of trying to “spread hatred and lies and mislead voters” and said “there is no room for lies, deception and manipulation in our current electoral system.”

After filing the petition, Yashar’s party said in a statement that Smotrich was choosing to “spread propaganda based on artificial images” “instead of dealing with reality and his failures”.

Smotrich fired back at the petition in a post to X/Twitter on Friday. Mr. Smotrich addressed Mr. Eisenkot directly, insisting that “no petition will succeed in concealing the truth.”

“Your government with Yair Golan and Mansour Abbas will establish a Palestinian state. That’s not what I’m saying. That’s what your ministers are saying,” Smotrich continued.
