G7 aims to strengthen cooperation for AI governance

Amid growing concerns over the governance of generative artificial intelligence, G7 leaders meeting in Hiroshima on Saturday agreed to set up a working group to step up cooperation to tackle a range of issues related to new technologies.

G7 countries plan to launch this effort, called the Hiroshima AI Process, later this year to facilitate discussion. It is hoped that relevant international organizations, including the OECD, will also participate in this group.

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT are taking the tech world by storm and are considered to be game changers with the potential to significantly improve productivity. But it can also pose risks such as job losses and the spread of fake news.
