Fujitsu deploys Celonis AI to reduce excess inventory by 20%

Fujitsu subsidiary FSAS Technologies reports millions of dollars in inventory optimization savings after implementing Celonis Process Intelligence across its supply chain.

The company announced a 20% reduction in excess inventory and a 50% reduction in inventory orders in the first six months of implementation.

FSAS Technologies is responsible for Fujitsu’s server and storage operations. Fujitsu established FSAS Technologies to combine its server and storage business units. The company describes itself as a provider of data center solutions with a focus on servers, storage and integrated systems.

Emphasis on inventory

FSAS Technologies used Celonis Process Intelligence Platform for inventory management. This software allows visibility into inventory levels. The company also received AI-enhanced recommendations on when to purchase materials, when to reallocate materials, and when to refrain from purchasing materials.

Celonis said the platform connected systems, teams and processes across FSAS Technologies’ supply chain. The companies also warned against expanding the work to other business processes.

Inventory management remains an ongoing cost pressure for technology hardware operations, especially when product cycles and component availability can change rapidly. Companies often aim to balance service levels with low inventory-bound working capital.

Fujitsu positioned the introduction as part of a broader push for the use of data, decision-making and AI within the group.

The company said it works with IT services customers in multiple markets to transform their businesses using process intelligence.

The partnership positions Fujitsu on both sides of the relationship, both as a user of Celonis technology in its own operations and as a service partner working with customers who adopt the Celonis platform.

For FSAS Technologies, the reported near-term results are centered around reduced order volumes and lower overstock levels. The next stage of work will include deployment across additional processes as Fujitsu and Celonis expand their use of the platform.
