FreePress closes €1 million seed round to scale AI-driven multilingual news platform

AI News

FreePress has raised €1 million in seed funding to expand its AI-powered news platform and accelerate its entry into global markets. Founded in 2023, the Finnish startup uses artificial intelligence to analyze and summarize a huge amount of published and licensed articles, delivering personalized news in multiple languages while directing readers to original reporting. The new capital will support product development, strengthen AI capabilities and deepen collaboration with media organizations as the company prepares for international growth.

At the heart of FreePress' model is a revenue-sharing framework that returns up to half of platform revenue to participating publishers, providing news organizations with additional monetization channels and broader audience reach. Since launching in Finland in late 2025, the company has partnered with local publishers and is in talks with international outlets to expand its network.

The funding will also drive enhancements to the platform's AI engine. This AI engine acts as a virtual editor by creating concise summaries across global categories and multiple languages. As we grow our team and add new markets and languages, FreePress aims to provide publishers with scalable tools while improving news accessibility and trust for readers around the world.
