Delhi police have registered the FIR after Congress's Bihar unit shared a video generated by AI showing PM Modi and his late mother. The BJP called the clip “shameful” and accused Congress of slandering the Prime Minister.

New Delhi: Delhi police have registered the FIR after a controversial AI-generated “deepfake” video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother circulated on social media. The video was shared on September 10th by the official handle of the National Congress of India (INC) Bihar unit on the platform known as Twitter (now X).
The lawsuit was filed on a complaint from Sankhet Gupta, the convener of the BJP Delhi election cell, who alleged that the video was intended.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother – aggravating the image of gross violations of law, morality and women's dignity.”

The complaint was filed with the North Avenue Police Department.
According to the report, the FIR is registered in multiple sections of the 2023 Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. These include Section 336 (forged), Section 340(2) (forged document or electronic record, and using it as authentic), Section 352 (Section 61(2)(2), Section 356(2)), Section 352(2).
Police said the incident was against someone without a name related to the distribution of the video via INC Bihar's official social media handle.

Sanket Gupta, in his complaints, strongly opposed the cycle of the clip and said it had
“It has worsened the image of the Prime Minister and seriously violated the law, morality and the dignity of women.”
The video generated by the AI in question was 36 seconds long and was equipped with the label “AI Geneated.” It was shared with the caption “Maa appears in Sahab's dream.”
In the clip, Prime Minister Modi is seen dreaming of his late mother.

The video quickly went viral online, triggering a sharp response from the BJP and its allies. Leaders of the party circulated clips and assaulted them in Congress, asking them “shameful.”
“How low the opposition will be, they will crouch down to target Modi.”
The controversy is now undergoing a legitimate shift with Delhi police registering the FIR and beginning an investigation into the matter.
