Microsoft has released two Windows 11 builds to Insiders in the Beta Channel. Beta channels typically ship two builds. One of them, build 22631.2048, comes with the new features by default. Another build, 22621.2048, has new features disabled by default.
This update adds a new gallery view to File Explorer for easy access to your photos. It also includes some fixes and general improvements.
In addition to all the changes outlined below, Microsoft has started testing a new AI hub for all insiders in the Microsoft Store. AI Hub displays Windows 11 apps that harness the power of artificial intelligence.

Build 22631.2048: What’s New
Introducing Galleries, a new File Explorer feature designed to give you easy access to your photo collection. The set of content displayed in the gallery is the same as displayed in all photo views in the Photos app.
Build 22631.2048: Changes and improvements
Universal
- For Windows Insiders in Build 22631,[設定]>[システム]>[バージョン情報](and winver) update version control to version 23H2. This means that Windows 11 version 23H2 will be our annual feature update this year and will be available to our customers just like the latest Windows 10 feature update. As mentioned here, Windows 11 will be released later in the calendar year on an annual feature update pace. For more information, see this blog post.
taskbar and system tray
- After updating to this build, right-clicking an app on the taskbar may show the ability to end task, however this functionality is currently broken and will be fixed in a future flight of the beta channel .[設定]>[システム]>[開発者向け]The settings under are also not currently displayed.
file explorer
- Added the ability to cut and merge tabs in File Explorer.
For developers
- Move the “For Developers” settings page from Settings > Privacy & Security to: Settings > System.
Build 22631.2048: Fix
taskbar
- Fixed an issue that caused the taskbar to hang during initialization and never finish loading.
file explorer
- Fixed an issue where explorer.exe could crash when opening folders containing .WEBP files.
- We’ve done some work to address an issue that could cause Explorer to hang when browsing network shares.

- Fixed an issue where a suggestion to turn off notifications for periodic actions could appear unexpectedly.
