As an executive manager of data management, you manage the data strategy and related business practices of a specific line of business or corporate unit. Primary Responsibilities:
Implementing advanced data strategies
- Define and lead direct team to execute LOB/CF data strategy aligned with BNY Mellon’s corporate data strategy
- Facilitate the use of data for commercial impact in LOB/CF such as cost reduction, risk reduction and business growth
Data lifecycle management
- Lead a team to define and prioritize LOB/CF critical data to EDM standards
- Facilitate an Authoritative Data Set (“ADS”) certification process and ensure proper storage and documentation of the certified ADS.
- Document the data lineage of all LOB/CF data throughout its lifecycle. This includes where the data originated and moved over time.
- Implement data controls through strong governance and MDM frameworks, including state-of-the-art data rationalization practices.
- Review the metadata model annually.
Establishing a strong data governance and control framework
- Set a strategy and implement a LOB/CF data operating model that aligns with core policies laid out by the enterprise data management team.
- Implement procedures for data privacy, access, analysis, storage, control, quality and protection
- Implement data quality frameworks, conduct quality reports, and execute problem remediation plans to quickly resolve data issues. Monitor data quality issues and focus on resolving issues.
- Represent business/corporate units in appropriate data governance forums.
- Ensure LOB/CF completes data maturity assessments in a timely manner.
Drive data projects and initiatives
- Act as an executive sponsor for LOB/CF data projects and initiatives
- Drive data initiatives outside of LOB/CF (e.g. company-wide remediation efforts)
- Supporting the implementation of large-scale transformation programs
- Collaborate with other business stakeholders to understand and meet business requirements
Qualification
- 15+ years of experience in data management and analysis, preferably at least 10 years of experience managing a data team in a large institution.
- Proven knowledge of data structures, information systems/tools, related software and data management, enterprise content management, and records management policies and practices in complex organizational environments subject to regulatory oversight.
- Understanding US/EU privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, such as the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders and business concepts to technologists.Ability to sell ideas and process them internally at all levels, including board and investors

BNY Mellon evaluates market data to ensure competitive compensation packages for its employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be $136,500 to $375,000 annually at the start of employment.
