Advances in AI have changed the way we work and live, but the growing use of technology also raises ethical challenges. As AI technology continues to evolve, there is a growing need to ensure that it is developed and used in an ethical and responsible manner.
In this hearth chat, Nayur Khan, partner at QuantumBlack, an AI consulting firm of McKinsey & Company, discusses ethical considerations surrounding AI, including issues of bias, transparency, and accountability. He discusses how organizations should protect against unethical AI practices and how they should establish principles of fairness, transparency and confidentiality.
Ethical AI
In this year’s Tech LIVE Virtual London hearth chat, Nayur Khan discussed a wide range of topics around ethical AI, from the biggest ethical challenges with AI and how to manage them, to the need for diversity in building AI.
“There is a lack of diversity in technology in general,” he says. “Across Europe, 22% of his tech jobs are women. In the US, he’s less than 5% black among software developers. That’s where the problem lies.
“And what I always talk about is that we can do advanced calculations and we can create new checks and guardrails.
“Do you have a team that represents the AI you are building for personal use?
“Generally, we talk about this a lot. There is a lot of diverse talent out there, which is good from an economic point of view, but even more important from an AI point of view is bringing these different perspectives into the discussion.”
