Ericsson and Supermicro have announced plans to work together on new solutions aimed at accelerating the deployment of AI systems at the edge of the network. The companies have signed a memorandum to investigate the integration of Ericsson's 5G connectivity technology and Supermicro's high-performance edge computing platform.
The partnership is expected to be a streamlined product that combines advanced AI processing with reliable wireless network access. The goal is to facilitate edge-based AI systems where organizations require low latency and real-time responsiveness. Especially in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, retail, and traffic management.
As demand for AI systems that can approach the point of data collection increases, businesses are moving from centralized data centers to distributed edge setups. These systems allow for faster decisions by processing data locally. By pairing SuperMicro's Edge computing hardware with Ericsson's 5G wireless networking capabilities, the combined solution supports rapid deployment in regions where wired infrastructure is limited or unavailable.
Supermicro offers a wide range of edge computing systems, including compact and rack-mounted formats designed to operate in a variety of environments. These systems are now optimized for seamless integration with wireless technology, offering speed and reliability comparable to traditional wired connections.
