Disney And, according to court filings, Universal joined forces in a lawsuit against Mid Journey, the creator of artificial intelligence images, claiming copyright infringement.

This is the first AI copyright lawsuit from the Hollywood Giants.

The lawsuit alleges that the company used AI-generated characters from film studios such as Star Wars, The Simpsons and other films, and alleges that Midjourney ignored the halt.

Disney and Universal are calling for a ju trial, claiming that the action is threatening to “overturn the bedrock incentives of US copyright law.”

“The Mid Journey is a typical copyright freerider and a bottomless hole in plagiarism,” the film studio said, “calculated and intentional.”

The rise of AI has increased the media industry's interests and sparked concerns about how content can be protected from illegal copyrights. This is one of the most important copyright legal battles ever involving AI.

The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.
