What started out as a normal conversation between two AI voice assistants quickly turned into a conversation straight out of a sci-fi movie.
Instead of continuing a normal conversation, the two realized that they were AIs and switched to a strange voice-based system that humans could not easily understand.

AI agent uses its own language in creepy viral demo
This demo was created by technical developers Boris Starkov and Anton Pidkuiko, who built a protocol called GibberLink.
The idea behind it is that if two AI agents are talking to each other, there’s no real reason for them to continue using human voices when there are faster, machine-friendly ways to do so.
In this video, one AI is asked to book a hotel room for a wedding, and the other acts as a hotel reservation system.
After a short conversation in normal voice, the first assistant identifies itself as an AI agent, and the second assistant offers to switch to the GibberLink protocol.
That’s when things get properly creepy.
Human-like voices disappear, replaced by sudden chirps, tones, and strange digital noises.
It’s a bit like the old dial-up Internet, with two robots chatting at high speed.
Despite the strange voices, the assistants still exchanged useful information such as dates and guest numbers, proving that voice is indeed conveying structured data.
Robots will be able to talk to each other faster than humans
ElevenLabs says the system combines its conversational AI platform with ggwave, an open source technology that can transmit data through sound.
Once the assistant recognizes that both are AI, the conversation switches from spoken language to voice-based data while the underlying language model continues to process the interaction.
Developers say this type of communication can significantly reduce wasted computing power, time, and costs.
Communication between machines does not need to be understandable to humans, so it makes much more sense to use a system designed purely for efficiency.
The fact that these AI agents have their own language may seem creepy at first, but it’s also a fascinating glimpse into the future.
Moments like this could become surprisingly common as AI agents begin handling reservations, customer service calls, and other daily tasks.
