COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A College Station technology company is hosting a free roundtable to help Brazos Valley business owners learn how artificial intelligence applies to their organizations.
Frogslayer, a 20-year-old software and AI consulting company, has launched a series (Table Stakes) to bring local business owners together to discuss AI and automation.
No slide or pitch
Table stakes events are described as conversations behind closed doors without presentations or required expertise. Each roundtable is limited to eight seats to keep the conversation going and ensure all attendees have an opportunity to speak.
Tim Scott, Frogslayer’s head of product strategy and design, said the series was born out of questions the company was already hearing from customers.
“We’re starting to get questions about how AI can help,” Scott says. “We thought a great way to help them would be to talk to them, understand where AI can and cannot help, and have discussions with local business owners.”
Scott said the most common concerns from business owners center around whether AI is practical for small businesses.
“They’re saying, ‘Will this work? I’m a small business. How can it help me?'” Scott said. “We want to help people understand the security side of things and start from a very small starting point to really help their business.”

Scott said participants will leave with an understanding of how AI can automate processes, improve accuracy and increase production.
“Will this allow us to automate processes, make them faster, more accurate, and leverage more of our existing capabilities?” Scott said.
The series began in June at the Texas A&M Hotel & Conference Center, with a second gathering held at The Republic Steakhouse in Bryan. Attendees include owners and executives from manufacturing, marketing, professional services and other industries from across the region.
Community and next steps
Tori Maddux, content and community manager at Frogslayer, said the response from attendees has been enthusiastic.
“It was a really positive result,” Maddux said. “People said they learned a lot. It gave them the confidence to try some things. It also made them know when to rely on experts to help them get through a difficult time.”
Maddux said the roundtable also sparked connections among business owners in the Brazos Valley.
“It’s really great to see Brazos Valley business owners connecting, meeting new people, networking and building a community where they can stay in touch and ask questions,” Maddux said. “So it’s really great to see the community coming together around this.”
Scott said the first steps recommended for business owners new to AI are simple.
“Take a look at this and try a few things,” Scott said. “Things are changing because this field is progressing so quickly. So step in a little bit.”
Frogslayer also provides a list of AI resources on its website for business owners who don’t know where to start.
How to participate
The next Table Stakes Roundtable is scheduled for August 4th in Bryan-College Station. Additional dates and locations in Central Texas are listed at frogslayer.com/roundtables. The number of seats will be from 8 to 12 seats.
