MITO AI, a Madrid and San Francisco-based startup building a collaborative platform for AI-native video creation, has raised $4.5 million in a pre-seed round led by Paul Murphy of Lightspeed Venture Partners. The company said the funding included participation from angel investors including Kibo, Kfund, Sequoia, A16Z Scout, LifeX, and unicorn founders and executives with ties to USV, Roblox, and GitHub.

The company positions MITO as an AI orchestration layer for video production, combining basic video, image, and audio models with professional editing tools within a browser-based infinite canvas environment. MITO said the product is designed for filmmakers, designers and creative teams, with real-time collaboration capabilities that allow multiple parties to work together simultaneously in a “multiplayer” environment.

MITO said its platform supports workflows from initial ideation to final delivery, including mood boards, storyboards, scripting, camera angles, visual effects, and multi-format output. The company also described AI CoPilot, which allows users to direct the execution of specific actions, designed to accelerate production while maintaining creative control, consistency, and quality.

Beyond the software platform, MITO said it is building a broader creative ecosystem, including an AI-powered audiovisual studio that already partners with TV and film production companies, and a curated marketplace of generative creators. The company said it plans to use the latest capital to accelerate efforts to make professional storytelling tools more accessible to creators and creative teams.
