Immediately after the minutes of the meeting between Akal Takht Jathedar Kuldeep Singh Gargazi and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann regarding the controversial video were released, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) launched a frontal attack, claiming that the commercial never said that the video was generated by artificial intelligence (AI). The party has asked for the identity of the person impersonating the CM in the video.
Party spokesperson Bhartej Singh Panu, while sharing a clipped video of the conversation on his social media handle ‘X’, wrote that the CM has been saying that the video is fake since day one and the recording itself proves that he did not claim that it was AI generated. Panu also insisted that the actors seen in the video should be identified.
Meanwhile, SAD’s public relations lawyer Arshdeep Singh Khara refuted Panu’s statement and said the AAP government had been claiming from the beginning that the video was AI-generated and had even filed a case against NRI Jagman Samra for allegedly creating a fake AI video of the commercial.
“Now, with the forensic investigation proving that the video is genuine, AAP leaders have changed their stand by claiming that the person seen in the video is not the Chief Minister, raising questions as to why the case was registered in the first place,” Kurar claimed.
The SAD working committee also condemned Mann for allegedly challenging the authority of Akal Takht in public and said such statements hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs.
The Akali Dal also threatened to invoke the Dharam Yudh Morcha and issued an ultimatum to the AAP government to remove the state chief minister.
The party is reviving the Morcha after 40 years, recalling the last Dharam Yudh Morcha, which was launched on August 4, 1982 and lasted till June 10, 1984. The morcha, aimed at implementing the Anandpur Sahib resolutions calling for greater autonomy for Punjab and protection of the rights of Sikhs, ended tragically with Operation Blue Star.
