Business software company Box, Inc. announced Tuesday that it will introduce new artificial intelligence capabilities such as analyzing information across customer contracts and generating customized marketing content.
The technology industry is embracing generative AI, which has the ability to synthesize large amounts of data and write human-like text.
Box’s customers testing the product are already experiencing “revolutionary” productivity gains, Box CEO Aaron Levie told Reuters. He cites a Box customer whose employees manually reviewed tens of thousands of files. New AI capabilities could do it automatically “in a matter of seconds.”

Box has partnered with OpenAI. OpenAI, the Microsoft Corp-backed AI startup behind chatbot sensation ChatGPT, built AI enhancements.
Box implemented OpenAI’s technology to limit OpenAI’s responses to only information in the customer’s existing documents, dramatically reducing the chances of incorrect responses, Levie said. False responses known as hallucinations have plagued generative AI products like ChatGPT.
Box will initially use technology from OpenAI to build its AI products, but the goal is to let customers choose from a variety of AI providers, he said.
According to Box, new AI capabilities include summarizing financial documents, surfacing insights from customer surveys, and the ability to tailor onboarding documents to specific customer needs.
