This fellowship is open to practicing professionals and academics in all fields who hold ongoing positions in universities, research institutes, industry associations, or other established professional settings.

This program seeks individuals who:

This fellowship is open to applicants from all over the world and requires proficiency in English.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants with a Ph.D. degree must demonstrate:

  • At least 2 peer-reviewed publications
  • Evidence of a growing research trajectory
  • Awarded at least one research grant as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator (Co-I)

Applicants without a doctoral degree must demonstrate:

  • At least 7 years of professional experience in a related specialized field
  • High level of expertise and professional status
  • Original contribution record
  • Professional evaluation within a specialty field
  • Evidence of significant impact in the field

All candidates must clearly demonstrate how their proposed project fits both the mission of the Accelerator Fellowship Program and one or more of the AI ​​Ethics Institute’s research priorities.

Fellowship benefits

Fellowship format and duration

Fellows can attend the program remotely or on an extended stay in Oxford.

  • Remote participation through regular short-term visits to Oxford
  • Individual stays in Oxford for up to six months at a time, subject to visa eligibility requirements

Fellowships are offered for either:

Distance fellowships may begin as early as September 2026, while in-person fellowships are expected to begin in April 2027 or September 2027.

Funding and financial support

Each fellowship award includes a monthly stipend. £2,000 To cover:

  • Accommodation
  • travel expenses
  • food and living expenses

Additional funding may also be available on a case-by-case basis for project-related activities such as:

  • Community participation event

Applicants seeking additional support must provide a project proposal and budget rationale in their application.

  • Visa application fees (if applicable)

1. Project statement (maximum 500 words)

The statement should outline:

  • Project focus and purpose
  • intended outcomes and outcomes
  • Alignment with the mission of the Fellowship
  • Alignment with Institute research priorities

  • Key milestones and delivery plans
  • Requested Fellowship Duration
  • Proposed budget for additional project funds (if applicable)

2. Motivation (maximum 500 words)

Applicants should explain their interest in the program and how the fellowship aligns with their professional goals.

3. Resume (maximum 2 pages)

Candidates must submit an up-to-date resume highlighting relevant academic, professional, and research accomplishments.

Application deadline

Applications for the 2026/27 Accelerator Fellowship Program will open on May 25, 2026 and close on May 25, 2026. 15 June 2026 23:59 UK Time.

The Institute reserves the right to terminate the application early if necessary.

Final candidates will be invited for an interview as part of the selection process. As this program is highly competitive, final decisions are made by a dedicated selection committee.
